Port city of the Yamhill

by John White

Grand Encampment Copper Towns

This book provides a concise history of the Grand Encampent copper excitement in southern Wyoming. Discovery of rich copper led to a rush and the formation of towns at Battle, Rambler, Copperton, Dillon, Rudefeha, Riverside, and Encampment. The Rudefeha mine is at 10,000 feet; to get the ore out they built a 16-mile tramway, and a railroad was built down from Rawlins. The book features early photos as well as the ruins left today.
